The per-team compartmentalization Mailchimp doesn't have.
Mailchimp offers only 5 fixed roles, identical across all your audiences. No way to limit a team to its own audiences. Sendgate adds it on top of your account.
Mailchimp's 5 levels apply to the WHOLE account. A Manager sees and touches all your audiences, at any tier. No per-team scope.

A per-team scope, added on top
You keep Mailchimp as your sending channel. Sendgate brings the missing compartmentalization layer, audience by audience.
Connect via API key
You paste your Mailchimp API key. Your audiences stay in Mailchimp — Sendgate reads them, never copies them.
Scope teams to their audiences
Create team groups and decide which audiences each one can use. A member only sees their own scope — mailing the wrong audience becomes impossible.
Assigned senders & frequency caps
Each team sends only from its own approved senders, and a shared frequency cap protects deliverability across the whole account.
Mailchimp roles vs Sendgate
Mailchimp's five roles are account-wide. Sendgate adds the per-team, per-audience layer on top — without changing your Mailchimp plan.

Frequently asked questions
Doesn't Mailchimp already do this?
No. Mailchimp's five roles (Owner, Admin, Manager, Author, Viewer) are global: they apply to the whole account, with no per-audience scope. A Manager can see and send to every audience. Sendgate adds the missing per-team boundary on top.
How does Sendgate limit a team to specific audiences?
You create team groups and assign each group only the audiences and senders it may use. When a member logs in, they see only their scope — so sending to the wrong audience, or as another team, is impossible.
Are my audiences copied to Sendgate?
No. Your audiences stay in Mailchimp. Sendgate reads them through your API key without duplicating your contact database — it stores only the minimum (audience names, per-group access, campaign metadata).
Do I need a paid Mailchimp plan?
No. Sendgate's compartmentalization works on top of any Mailchimp plan, so you don't need to upgrade to a higher tier just to add more controlled users.
Can members still send directly from Mailchimp?
Members work inside Sendgate, which enforces the scope you set. Mailchimp stays your sending engine — Sendgate is the governance layer that decides who can send what, to whom, and how often.
How long does setup take?
A few minutes: paste your Mailchimp API key, create your team groups, assign audiences and senders. No migration, no change to your sending setup. 7-day free trial, no card.
